CHURCH HISTORY
In the Beginning...Mike and Sheila Neuse moved their family here from Little Elm Texas - where Mike had been serving as pastor - in December 1997 to start New River Valley Community Church. They stepped out in faith to move to an area where they knew no-one, had no congregation, and had no salary. Yet they knew that they were being led by God to do so. The vision was to start a church where people could grow in their relationship with God in an atmosphere that's compelling and exciting and be accepted as they are, where people could build authentic relationships, and where the arts could flourish...a culturally relevant place that enables individuals to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. New River Valley Community Church was birthed out of that vision. The first New River Valley Community Church service was held on Easter Sunday, 1998, in the Christiansburg High School auditorium. Since then the church has grown steadily and continues to do so, by God's grace.
